Blog Post #6

I really enjoyed my visit to the Tech Sandbox. I thought the technologies used in the sandbox were super cool and could be very helpful to a teacher trying to understand their students better. My favorite activity in the sandbox was the numbers 00-99 game. It was a real challenge and I think if I understood what the results said about the mind, I think the game would be a wonderful insight into students mind and also be a fun game for everyone to try and compare. The lady at the sandbox gave me a lot of good information on what that game is used for and how it tracks mental progress.

One standard that I found on CPALMS relating to technology is exploring the impact of technology on daily life. I do not believe I am at the skill set required to properly teach this lesson. Due to my age, I do not remember a time when electronic technology didn't exist. My whole life has been affected by technology, but I do not know how it would be different. I would need to learn a lot more about electronics and speak to people on how schooling is different with technology.

One thing I found that is super helpful on the CPALMS website is the lesson plans. The page gives you all of the goals for the lesson as well as giving what teachers should teach to reach those goals. These would be super helpful as a teacher to know what the state is looking for as the students learn ELA. Related courses was another helpful too, as learning is not such a one-dimensional thing. Learning for one subject does not mean any other lessons can be learned in different subjects. The related courses page is great for doing just that.
