Since copyright can be such a confusing subject with a system that pretty much goes by a case by case ruling, I would make sure to teach copyright very early in the year. This why, if any issues arise where students may need a license or need to cite someone properly, the lesson would have already happened, and the process can be much smoother because of it. Another benefit of teaching copyright early in the year is that the subject matter is not high-intensity. Although it can be confusing, students won't get worn out if that lesson is taught early in the year. I would probably teach it very similarly to how I was taught; first going over each symbol and title, then going into an example of using one and how to get one yourself. I am still confused on one thing: if someone tries to use an image that does not have a Creative Commons license attached, how are we supposed to credit the creator?

My chosen issue is lack of funding, as I have had experiences at schools where there is an apparent lack of funding, and I know how those schools got around that issue. As an English teacher, I prefer paper books to online. Since most of the learning will take place from books, I will try various ways to raise money for students to be able afford their own books. This can be done through a variety of ways, whether it's a fundraiser the class does, from my own pocket, or asking for help from various education resources that provide funds for underfunded schools. For things that students need technology for, new options will have to be figured out on a case by case basis with various factors determining the correct solution.

I learned a lot of very helpful skills when working on my newsletter, which include wrapping text around images, changing the margins, and adding columns to break apart large sections of text. Another cool thing I learned was adding shapes and outlines to shapes for things like the permission slip (adding the scissor icon made me feel like a real teacher!). The main skill I want to improve is having full control over where my text is, especially when working with columns. Many times, the text would end up in a place that I did not originally intend for it to be, so having the skills to place it exactly where desired would be very helpful.
